From Bare to Beautiful: Transform Your Hallway with the Kendal Sideboard
We’ve recently moved into a new house and there’s nothing like that blank canvas feeling that comes with a fresh space. You walk through the front door and think, “Right, where do we start?”
For me, it was the hallway. It’s surprisingly big, which is great as we had a really small entrance hallway in our previous house. At first it felt a bit empty and echoey, definitely not the cosy welcome I wanted. So I went on the hunt for something that would bring some warmth and style to the space… and when Bed Kingdom kindly offered us the GFW Kendal Large Grey Sideboard to review, I jumped at the chance!
Easy to Assemble
Let’s be honest: flat-pack furniture can go either way. Thankfully, the Kendal sideboard was pretty straightforward. It definitely helps to have two people, but everything was well-labelled and made sense (no mystery screws or missing bits is always a win). We had it up in an hour and a half and it felt solid and secure from the get-go.

Contemporary Style
What drew me in first was the look of it. The two-tone finish is subtle but gives it a bit more character than plain white or wood. It’s got this relaxed, modern feel with a bit of a rustic twist, which is the exact vibe I wanted in our hallway.
The brushed satin handles are a lovely detail too, much better than traditional knobs.

So Much Storage Space
One of the reasons I love this sideboard is the fantastic storage space that it offers. Between the cupboards and the drawers, it hides all the bits we don’t want lying around: scarves, gloves, dog leads, reusable shopping bags, spare keys… you name it, it’s all going to fit in there.

The top drawers are great for smaller things (aka the random junk we all seem to accumulate), and the cupboards have ample room for pretty much anything.

What Are The Dimensions?
The Kendall Grey Sideboard is H 77cm x W 117cm x D 39cm.
The Perfect Spot for Seasonal Styling
I love decorating the house for the seasons. I know it’s not for everyone but it makes me insanely happy!
The Kendall Sideboard will be perfect for styling throughout the year and it’s somewhere my tiered tray can live.
It’s basically become my mini seasonal styling station, and I love that I can switch things up whenever I fancy.

If you’re looking to give your hallway some personality and practicality in one go, I can’t recommend the Kendal grey sideboard enough. It instantly made the space feel more welcoming, and it’s the perfect balance of form and function.
For us, it’s made that first step through the door feel more like home. And I think Barney feels just that! (Is it just me or is your dog a space invader too?)

Wow, I love that sideboard! It looks so beautiful and you have styled it so nicely. Barney looks very comfortable too.
That is a beautiful sideboard! I hate putting furniture together but this sounds easy! What a lovely addition to your new home. x
You can never have too much storage, and this looks ideal!
Quality counts – style class and elegance – perfect
Nice sideboard!
I really like this. It’s such a fab colour and looks really posh.
Love the sideboard
Just what I’ve been looking for!
Such a beautiful unit
This is lovely! I have an open bookcase that stores our jigsaw collection in the hallway, and I’ve been looking for something like this to replace it with. It sounds like it was easy to assemble, too, which is a huge bonus; I usually tie myself in knots with flatpack furniture.
Beautiful sideboard, better not let my partner anywhere near it, even though he is a joiner he would still not follow the instructions and put it together wrong lol
The final product looks great!
That is a lovely idea for my hallway which is in need of a makeover
Gorgeous sideboard
Wow, this is beautiful. Love it
not keen on flatpack but i suppose some are good quality while others will fall apart ,your one looks sturdy
I love a nice hallway, I’m lucky as mine is perfect for me, room for a console table which is so handy. my granddaughter has just moved into her first home and like you it was a blank canvas and she is enjoying our her own stamp on it. Love that sideboard, particularly as it has such great storage space
I love this look, but it would be better suited in a country cottage i think.
Love this. My son has just bought his first house and this would look perfect in his hallway.
I bought open shelves for our hallway and starting to wish I’d got a unit like this!
