Which Dulux paint to choose?
*This is a collaborative post.
I’ve been meaning to give my house a new lick of paint for quite some time. It’s been a while since we’ve painted the interiors, and I feel like the walls have started to look dull and discoloured. With the weather getting better, I think now it’s the perfect time to paint the interiors.
If you’re up for a challenge, you can also tackle your home’s outside after painting the inside but I don’t think I’ll do that. Maybe another day! Whilst looking for the best (and affordable!) paints for interiors I thought of going for a tried and tested brand – Dulux. However, with countless varieties of paints, choosing the right paint proved to be difficult.
With the help of Kent Blaxill, Dulux paint suppliers, I was able to narrow down the best Dulux paint for my home. So, I thought of giving you some advice (in case you’re in the same boat as I was!). Founded in 1838, Kent Blaxill used to be an oil and glass business in Colchester. Now, they have twenty-one decorating centres across the East of England and the Midlands.
Why Dulux?
“Not only is Dulux a British brand that has been creating beautiful paint colours since 1931, but this paint brand also offers one of the largest collections of colours of any paint brand in England.” Says Motherhood the Real Deal. Dulux started making paints in 1919 but it wasn’t until 1931 that the brand got its name. Today, Dulux continues to be one of the top picks for decorators when painting homes and offices across the country. Their colours feature great quality and offer fantastic coverage!
What colours to choose?
Even though there are thousands of different colours to choose from, I think I’m going the simple route – neutrals. Some might say that neutrals are boring, others may call them timeless. I think that neutrals will always look good. So, I’m forgetting all about bright colours or dark hues and aiming for neutral shades, such as Dulux Polished Pebble, a cool neutral grey. As Dork Face comments, “Let’s be real, neutral colours will never go out of fashion. Plus, now there are countless neutral colours, from off-whites to almost-greys. So, the choices are endless!”
Which Dulux paint to choose?
With Dulux (or any other brand for that matter!) you will have to consider much more than the colour. You will have to consider the type of paint and the finish. However, it would take me all day to go through all ranges of Dulux paint, so I’m going to talk about the option I’m eyeing – Dulux Trade.
What is Dulux Trade?
This range is designed for the professional decorator and even though I’m not the target audience, after seeing multiple online reviews, it looks like it is better quality than the standard paint. The Decorators Forum did an in-depth review of Dulux retail paint and trade paint, in which they mentioned “I don’t understand why anyone would still opt to save a few quid on retail, have to apply an extra coat, then have to repaint it again sooner.” Even though Dulux Trade is a bit more expensive, it is better in the long run.
Have you ever used Dulux paint?
